My friend Ben Wells picked me up at the airport, coming in from NJ, and took me straight to the show. We dosed on approach and had a great night. He neglected to tell me, until we got back to his house, that his family was expecting us for dinner. His Mom wouldn't let him get me at the airport unless we came straight back. She was waiting up for us.
One of the things I love about Ben is that he would rather live at full throttle today and willing pay the price tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow. The following night was life altering.

I was there, lol
I was at this show. It was special for me because though I had just "gotten it", as far as the GD is concerned. I was on the floor, about a quarter of the way back. The sound was so good from wher I was that I was mainly hearing Jerry's monitors. It was sweet sounding, and a real close-to-Jerry show for me. It's been all downhill from there.
Going to see much of this month's Phil and Friends tour. Jerry will be there, lol, and it should have some surprises.
Take it easy everyone, and thanks for archiving this, archive.org!

Saw all the shows on this run and I remember this show as being one of the best (I think NYE is slightly overrated, but was a BLAST). Upon listening I still think so. Not a huge fan of '81-'82 although there are some excellent moments. This night was a very consistently entertaining show but I think Brent is too prevalent in the mix (nitpicking). His tinkly sound lacks bite and overshadows the guitar in places (TLEO and Cumberland Blues in particular). Still better than the post '77 Keith. Might as well is a smoker. The Cumby is also very sweet. LL/Supplication is a highlight even with the weird reverby sound. The second set is very standard (77-95) Dead. Great Times, sometimes exceptional playing. I would rate 300 shows from earlier in their career in front of this one. Wasn't Casey Jones the encore and not the 2nd set opener?

no reviews, someone had to be at this show with there two cents to add about how this was where they got on the bus, something dammit..well i wasnt there so all i have to say is a good lazy>supplication other then that unless ur a collector and u want all the good 81 soundboards, there really aint that many, 82 blows it away as far as just robust crystal base thumping soundboards go(10/9,10/10 for example) but this is one thats pretty good therefore its atleast worth my petty time
